Evil Genius Productions – Everyday Heroes

Do you remember Wizards of the Coast’s d20 system, originally developed for the 3rd Edition of Dungeons and Dragons? Or more to the point, the d20 Modern system, released in 2002, which took the core mechanisms from the d20 System Reference Document (SRD) and revamped it for a modern setting (even futuristic in terms of d20 Future!)?

Well, if you do, and you get excited recalling your exploits in the system, then keep reading, as this might be of interest. If you don’t remember it, and haven’t a clue what I’m rambling on about, keep reading anyway, because you never know when the lure of a Role-Playing game might grab you and this has the promise to be great…

Everyday Heroes is Evil Genius Productions’ new take on the d20 Modern system, just in time to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Jeff Grubb, one of the original designers, has joined the team to help create the game. But rather than me tell you all about it, you can read the full press release HERE.

I own a fair number of games based on the original d20 system, as well as the Modern version, so I’ll be keeping an eye on how the Kickstarter campaign progresses once released, and wish Dave Scott, Evil Genius Productions’ owner, and the team all the best.

  1. Justin, you’ll be pleased to know that I followed your instructions and kept reading even though I didn’t have a clue what you were talking about! 🙂 I’ll no doubt be able to follow your progress with this at some point after you’ve got all your Battle For Berlin stuff painted!

    1. Lol! Don’t worry John, this one just rang lots of nostalgia bells, and though I’d love to play it at some point, I’d need to find some friends first… that’s friends who like RPG’s, not friends in general… although🤔

  2. I do remember the systems that you mentioned, not that I actually played them, but from what another blogger wrote about them. Hope it goes well and means you can get a system that ticks lots of boxes for you Justin.

    1. I’ve got lots of the d20 system stuff from old, so I doubt that I’d take the plunge on a new kickstarter for something I’d probably not get to the table. I’ll be happy to see it succeed though, as the original was a fine game.

  3. I’ve heard of the D20 system, but that’s about the extent of my knowledge LOL! Hopefully this game works out for you 🙂

    1. Not intending to take the plunge myself, just sharing the love🙂
I have the original anyway, I just don’t have the time to play RPGs these days, even our Call of Cthulhu has taken a back seat, what with Yasmin’s exams coming up and all.

  4. I second what others have said above. I know of role playing games and I know what a D20 is but that’s about as far as I go! I’m sure I’d enjoy playing them but I’ve never had a chance to do so which I guess is why I play board games and wargames.

    1. RPGs just eat your time, especially if you’re the GM. I love playing them though it’s been a long time since I actually run a character as I gravitated to running games, but nowadays I find I simply haven’t got the time. Even our Call of Cthulhu game has hit the back burner, as I found it just taking over.

      1. They do seem like a lot of work to me too though it is fun work which is the best kind. Hopefully you’ll find yourself with enough to play more of them in the future 🙂

      2. Yeah, putting a game together is fun, if you like that kind of thing… and I do, but it can become all absorbing and leave you with no time for anything else. Something had to give and so RPG’s have hit the back-burner for now.
